POKOTABI / Deltako
DELTAKO
Try takoyaki plain, then change things up with sauce or salt. DELTAKO also serves a cheese-filled egg-wrapped takoyaki dish, meat soup with takoyaki and drinks. You can eat in or take your order away.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
At DELTAKO, one way to enjoy the takoyaki is to start without any toppings, then try different seasonings to find your favourite. The menu includes a cup of takoyaki described as “soft and crisp”, with a choice of 4 to 20 pieces. Diners have praised the contrast between the crisp exterior and soft centre, and the flavour of the dashi-seasoned batter on its own. Others mention changing things up with sauce, salt or ponzu while eating in. There are also mixed reports on the cooking: some diners like the crisp finish, while others have found it overcooked and oily.
Beyond takoyaki, there is “Tako-tama-yaki”: 2 takoyaki pieces wrapped in egg with cheese inside. A winter menu item, meat soup with takoyaki, is served in a small bowl with 2 pieces and may appeal if you want a light soup alongside your meal. Drinks listed include small-bottle beers and non-alcoholic beer, as well as chilled ginger drink, available hot or iced.
Both dine-in and takeaway are available, and the restaurant is also reported to have a table-cabinet video game. It opens from 11 to 18 on weekdays and from 8 to 15 on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
